I think this is an awesome way to acknowledge those who have worked on Duke these past 12 years.

am sure there are plenty who have kept the faith and anyone doing that for more than a decade deserves a nod, great idea.

I supported Duke Nukem Forever financially through purchase of just about every Duke related game, book, guide and other items! ;)

Duplicates omitted from this photo... because I run Duke on a LAN I bought 8 copies of Duke 3D and 4 copies of Caribbean and Duke it out in D.C. :)
Just kidding about supporting DNF directly, but I have always viewed original game purchases as supporting the companies I appreciate like 3D Realms back then.
If GearBox will keep it going, I will continue to buy Duke Nukem related games, add-ons and anything else Duke related. :)
I hope other Duke Nukem fans will do the same.

I am well, 13 years old and I haven't been alive on the release of the earlier games, but my dad kept them all and when i played them years ago i absolutely loved them! Ive been waiting years for game to come out! I almost cried when i heard that it definitely was! I know DUKE NUKEM off by heart and the only thing stopping me playing the old games is that they are too old to run on my computer :( im the only person in my school that has heard of him before so when it comes out, I'm getting it and every1 can come round and play it! im not taking no for an answer! every1 has the right to love DUKE!

Hey, DN3D is not too old to run on your comp. Just install it, and then download the EDuke 32 patch, and run it in high res plus WASD controls. Download the HRP, and then you can have it in 32 bit mode with new textures and graphs. Free downloads.

I do not normally post in forums but I wanted to take the time to thank the developers and fan base of the one and only Duke of Nukem. 3D was the first "adult" game I ever played, and while I certainly cannot boast a wide collection of your merchandise I can honestly say if there were no Duke I would probably be some kind of "hard worker" with a "good job". This game looks amazing, a culmination of simplicity and bad-assery that made 3D so unique. It has been 12 long years of waiting and I have no doubt it will be worth every second. Thank you!
P.S-And to the fans, see you in the game! HAIL TO THE KING BABY!

One of the first games I have ever played was the original side scroller Duke Nukem 20 years ago.. and played every version since.
And now the new game is coming out on my birthday!
You guys are my hero's for creating a game that is challenging, FUN, and is packed full of adult humor.
I have been hinting at everyone in my family to buy this for me for my bday lol!
GG, duke nukem FTW!

As a Duke Nikem fan I am really disappointed with this new Duke Nukem game because it isn't really a shooters game anymore where the first two missions are really boring and played the demo version from STEAM.

This thread is not really to have another "my opinion" on the game threads, as the first post suggest it is to acknowledge the wonderful idea that Gearbox had to give an in game credit to those who have worked on the game at some point in the years of creation.
There are plenty of other threads for giving your thoughts and reviews.
Thanks.

Me gamer review on GiantBomb and the Escapist Magazine.
Posted here as thanks to the mastercrafts folks that made this game.
----Round two----
Duke can an will bring the Man character you have been neglecting to play through, Egotistical Maniac. It's not at all in a narcissistic way nor does it fail by falling flat like the Duke copy cats out there. Duke is duke an he does what he wants baby. Round two is all about staying focused on that. The first loading screen came in handy, I went an did somethings I needed to do, an then when I got tired of that I had Duke as a reward. I played Doom but not Duke because I thought Duke was stupid back then. I've opened up my mind a lot since then.
I've never seen such an epic start up of a game. It's a press spacebar to continue game. I love that part, you don't see it much anymore. It took a while to load it does that we know about it. After it loads it runs for a good long time an across epic scale like I never seen. All seamlessly while also providing support for whatever Duke would ever want to do along with all the things that would happen to Duke durring those times. Don't forget there's a FPS game in there as well. The main problem with Duke is if you get into a hurry, you miss 75% of the game.
The game engine was very impressive. Unreal just has done so many things that we never though games could do. Getting to play a game that's made for PC in mind first, or well, at least it was when it started is so rare these days. Much less a old school title you always wondered about. The rumor that textures are lame is incorrect. Some of the best texture work I've ever seen. It lacks the new more modern aesthetic, because it was mostly created durring the ultra realistic boom. That is quickly overlooked by the splendid effects an perfect physics.
I gave Duke 5 stars* because it's a 5 star development at least on the PC for sure. The unique experience alone is worth the price an long loading times. If you played Borderlands then you probalby hated it at first. Then you realized how stupid you were to even think that about the greatest game ever made which you totally got addicted too. Playing DNF isn't like that at all, you love it from the very start an get to see some of the "I thought that was impossible" things that can be done with unreal. Accept no substitute.

Now im a big duke fan I grew up on duke 3d being one of my favorite games, Duke was almost my hero as bad as that sounds. haha. But Ive kept up on the news with progress on the new duke games. This one itself (DNF) isnt really 12 or so years in the making. They ended up scrapping and starting over a bunch of times. So its really just 12 years of a missing Duke, who knows how long DNF took to create.
But in my opinion I was very excited to pre order and to play it. it got even more exciting starting off but I soon got dissapointed as the game went on.
The problems I found was the amount of physic based challanges. Just wayyy to many and sometimes boring because you knew when your about to run into one when theres no enemys for the next 5 minutes. This is a Duke game after all, there should be enemies after enemies for duke to blow all apart. Just piles of bodies for duke to sit atop and make his throne. Instead you get maybe 5-10 then a challange.
Also why only 2 main weapons? Duke 3d had an arsenal of guns, was it just easier for placing ammo?
Where did the Co-op mode go? That was my favorite in Duke3d, running through the campaign with my bro. I cant beleive you cant even keep up with a game 12 years ago with a coop feature. It just feels like every other FPS game without it.
I was also dissapointed to find very little secret areas in DNF, when I did it gave me maybe 1 or 2 items and one of the 4 different avaible guns. Duke 3d alerted you with a message 'You Found a Secret!' and then even kept track of secrets per level, now isnt that exciting.
Ego system? Well i like the interactivty with the objects and the idea behind it but a regenerating health bar? really? Were doing this halo style now? Duke 3d was all health point based. The only reason I can see for the change is to make it easier again because you now dont have to place health packs.
To wrap this up I would give DNF 2 out 5 stars. It just felt like they sold the rights to "duke" to some other game company and they fashioned this 'everyday cookie cutter' FPS and put Duke's face on it. The game could of been a lot better if they would of went more true to the original and not just cut corners all over the place. We can probably thank 2K for that. 3D Realms could of done it themselves if we just gave them a few more years.. haha :)

I am going to close this thread. This was not meant to be another "review" thread it was about the cool thing Gearbox was doing by putting the names of everyone involved with Duke over the years in the credits. I have asked that it not turn into another review thread and the following two threads after that were reviews of the game :\
At any rate it has served its original purpose and has since been derailed.
