Hi guys - me and my housemates have just bought Civ 5 with the intent to play online over network in our house. Problem is two of us are PC and one mac, and the bloke on mac cannot connect to us it says he has not got a matched version of the game. His version is 1.0.1.166 (99281), whilst on PC we are both 167. However he is fully patched. Any idea how to sort this? We only bought the game to play online. Any help would be much appreciated. Has anyone been able to play mac v PC?

The only solution is too wait for Aspyr to patch the MAC game to 167, though I'm not sure why they did not do 167 instead of 166 in the first place, it can not be that much difference with only one internal build.
The only other option is for the guy with the MAC to use bootcamp and install windows Vista/7 and then install the PC Civ5 game, Steam does give you Civ5 for free once you have bought one of the civ5 games.

Or you could get your friend to a pc and to see the light.
Aspyr tried to bring PC/Mac compatibility in the last patch but they said they couldn't figure out what was making the crashes even if they are the same version technically. It's a buggy game and patching the port of a buggy game is not as easy as it seems. It's also a game that takes a ridiculous long time to test, and if there is one crash during the test then they wont be allowed to release the Mac/Pc compatibility patch (for fear it will further destabilized an unstable game). Problem is the game also crash all the time on PC in multiplayer, so it's hard to say if a crash is due to the Mac patch.
