OK - Anyone who wants a Multiplayer Save workaround until 2K gets around to listening to its customers listen up.
1st- To save in a Multiplayer game you must hit "ctrl-s" at the same time, or ctrl first. This brings up the save menu. There is an option to 'Save to the Steam Cloud'. Ignore it. It is only a single player option.
2nd- Name your save game "Autosave_(your save name)"
3rd- Then go into the save game folder which in Win7 looks like this
C:\Users\(your name)\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\Saves\multi
Then right click on the game you see from the 2nd step, either cut or copy then go to the only other folder in multi which is auto
(C:\Users\(your name)\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\Saves\multi\auto)
and paste the game there.
4th- load up from the multiplayer screen that says host or load. Boo-Ya!

If your game was on that screen and you were "alt-tab"ing you may have to go back one screen then forward again to refresh.

Hope this helps!
Enjoy!

I may be a lot behind the eight ball here...

But I've been playing a mulitplayer game with a mate over the internet for the past 2 weeks or so without a problem...

We've set the autosave to every 2 turns, and usually have no trouble loading up the autosave and continuing from where we left off. I have noticed that sometimes you get to have a turn twice, but just skipping the turn if in war soon fixes that.

We have had no trouble reloading the game on a number of occasions, and in tonights session have been involved in a fierce war with China with the AI using fighters, bombers, destroyers and nuclear weapons...

Yeah, autosaves work fine, but some of us have older systems and turn off autosaves to increase performance/ lessen end-turn lag.

With his method, you can take a save whenever you want.

There may also be times when you have more than one game in progress. By saving and naming it your self you can have as many games going as you want.

"autosave" maybe ok if you play with the same person all the time but if you play with a few people and sometimes have mutiplegames then you are ☺☺☺☺ out of luck.....

i thought this save feature would be fixed a week after release or even in one of the "major" upgrades .....

THANK YOU!

I play MP with various members of my family, and we've been having a terrible time loading the correct game from the AutoSave files. While, as a LONG TIME Civ player, I really wish it were less difficult to load a saved game, I appreciate you taking the time to post this info!

Honestly, if they can put in a Ctrl-S save function, how hard would it be to add a Ctrl-L load function, too?

I hope this solves my problems, but is it not easier just to fix so itīs a Save game/Load game in the menu?

The thing is, for whatever reason, it's not something in their eyes to fix. They deliberately chose not to have a normal save function in MP. (It was even mentioned prior to the game in interviews, and everyone complained and they ignored). It's just another example of how they had no idea what they were doing in terms of MP when making this game. It truly is unbelievable it doesn't have a normal save/load function. The ctrl+s workaround even just proves it would be easy to code in if they ever could be bothered.

Can you keep the save in a seperate folder, and then when your ready to resume, move it into the autosave folder then? This way it doesn't get erased by more current autosaves??
